Summer flew by in a blink of an eye....

Everything on the farm went a lot smoother now that we have a new hire operating the tractors...
Only if his feet were longer that tractor may have moved somewhere.

Like mother, like daughter...Haruko and Sakura spending quality time together chewing cud.

Ha! Caught on camera messing the new bale of hay!
Dill is the super friendly sheep on the farm. He'll even help out by becoming our workbench!

Rosemary's kids examining the new bale of hay...
We definitely need to put some wire around it or they'll mess it up really fast.

Sheepdog and sheep face off!

While the sheep got their shed remodeled
the pig did some remodeling of their own...
Re-floored the whole pig pen with muck and ripped up the flooring in their shed.

Soon our market will be moving indoors to Grow and Gather.
Be sure to come and check us out indoors on October 17 from 10-3.
Do take note of new place and new time for indoor market.

Dry Start for Spring....

Unlike previous years, this Spring started dry and warm.
Hopefully, with such good start we will have a bountiful year!
We know for certain the rhubarbs are enjoying this weather.
Grow rhubarb grow!

A savory twist to sweet potatoes...
For this dish, I placed 3 sweet potatoes into the food processor.
Then they were sauteed in the pan with just a touch of butter,
salt, pepper, and sage.

See what happens when the dogs goof off....
What in the world are you two doing in there?
Where are the sheep?!?

Another nice spring veggie to enjoy...Swiss Chard!
Most people in my family didn't like Swiss chard before because of the
tart after-taste.
This dish certainly changed their opinions on Swiss chard.
A bunch of Swiss chard cut to 1" pieces,
stir fry the stems in the pan with some oil, diced garlic, and lemon zest.
Let the stem cook for a while before adding, the leaves,
lemon juice and salt to taste.
(This particular photo has kale in the pan as well.)

Of course, our newest addition to the farm...
Piggies! Meet Tigress on the left and Miss Spot on the right.
This photo was taken right after they were let into the coop.
5 minutes afterwards....they turned the whole place upside down!

Not to be upstaged by the pigs...
the sheep gave birth to a triplet just this weekend!
Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!
Yes dear. Yes dear. Yes dear.

Oh dear...can I get some help here?!?
Three is too much for Rosemary to handle all by herself!

What's Happening on the Farm in Mid-Winter....

Newest fashion for sheep.
Too rainy sheep get innovative in ways of having FUN indoors...

Lotus onion anyone?
Just cut the onion into 8 sections without cutting all the way through,
let the onions sit in some olive oil and balsamic vinegar to coat thoroughly,
place onion into baking pan with spaces in between each onion for them to spread,
sprinkle with salt and pepper,
cover with foil bake in oven at 425F for 25-30 minutes,
uncover foil and bake for another 10 minutes,
and done!

Radish salad or appy
This recipe works for many different veggies such as kohlrabi, daikon,
cauliflower heart...etc.
Slice, dice, or julienne the radish,
sprinkle with little bit of salt,
drizzle with some sesame oil,
top with cilantro...
and voila a very appetizing side dish!

Our new puppy is growing up...VERY FAST
My! What big ears you have Carmie!
She loves to play chase with Mozart but most of all
she likes to go bug Izabelle.

Brr Winter is Here...
and ALL We Got is 2" Snow Cover...

Mozart overlooking this sad thin layer of snow...wondering how is he going to cool off this winter....

Hey! Who are you? Do you like snow too? Meet our new puppy - Carmie!
She's our backup for Izabelle. Don't be deceived by her small size,
she is one feisty puppy!

This is how you play in this white thing...dip and roll!
Carmie looks on as the pro does his demonstration.

And who are you?!? Woof! Woof! Woof!
Carmie loves to challenge Izabelle everytime she goes outside.
As for Izabelle? - "Who is this little pest?!?"

Izabelle says, "go away already!"
Izabelle doesn't take kindly to ANY dogs...she tolerates Mozart....
these two will need a lot of time to build a better relation.

Chickens need gravel...dogs too?!?

From our furry troopers to you....

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!
